Well Halloween is coming up this weekend and I thought I would post about what the Farley family does during Halloween. I don't get super excited about celebrating ghouls, goblins, the devil and stuff like that. Its kind of scary. I am more of a cutesy halloween person. My pumpkins are usually out and thats about it. But, I do embrace trick or treating. I love being a safe house for kids to come and get candy AND I get to meet fun families in my neighborhood. I love getting to see fun creative costumes as well. On top of that...who doesn't love having a huge bowl of candy sitting in their house! I will probably go to target and get Piper (my dog) a costume. She will be sitting in our living room looking out the window at all the children...so why not make her festive for all to see. One of my favorite things about halloween is that the day after all the wigs and costumes (non- ghoulish) are on sale. Its time to go shopping for the camp skit closet. Plus tons of websites put some creative ideas up for costumes that I can maybe rely on for camp parties! Here are a few for you.
I found this one at dollar store crafts: DIY costumes
ABC News put a few cutes one up here
You can always rely on Martha Stewart to pull through on costumes. Look at these here.

What Would You Do If You Could Volunteer for a Year
Hey gals! Some of you know that I have two blogs. On my staff blog I posted about a contest I found on Ikea's webiste. I thought I would share it with you! Ikea is a furniture store. If you live in Atlanta or Dallas or Houston or Chicago you probably have been. Anyway, Ikea is doing a contest that will give someone $100,000 to better society. You could start a non-profit organization ( a charity) for anything you want OR you could use the money to volunteer your time for a year. Maybe since you are in school you could give that to someone who is a missionary. You could sponsor a ton of kids at Kids Across America. Maybe there is someone in your community that needs the money. You could even start a charity. There was a Kanakuk Kamper that recently raised money for kids in Haiti! I think I would go to Haiti for a year or maybe go overseas for a year or two. My husband has some non-profit ideas. What would you do? Maybe you should sign up!. Click here to sign up.

Tim The Former American Gladiator and Kamp Videographer
Okay many of you have met Tim the kamp videographer. You might have see him win NBC's American Gladiator. You might have seen one of his camp videos. One of Tim's hobbies is to enter video contests. He has won a few and here is a new one. This is for some type of breath spray. He "re-did" the scene of the movie Titanic. Here it is!

My Almost Smart Car
So, I am traveling again with Kanakuk and I am loving being in Dallas. I miss my hubby and my sweet piper but its fun seeing people out on the road. All of us on the Dallas trip have to be everywhere at the same time so they decided to rent me a car. So I show up to the rental car place to pick up my rental car. My confirmation sheet (the page that proves that I rented a car online) said that I would be getting this car or a car like it
Its a small car but it is four door andcan seat four and I was excited to drive it around dtown. When I showed up at the Rental counter they said that I was going to get this car.
So, if you think you see me in Dallas...Honk!

What? A smart car? In Dallas? On Dallas Highways? Can you imagine me in this zipping around big Semis? They could squash me. An hour before I could have cared less what car they gave me. I literally said as long as it gets me from point a to point b it didn't matter....well, I lied. I just couldn't do the smart car. So I upgraded and it only cost me 10 dollars more.....total! Here is my ride for the rest of the week.

Where is Reno Again?
So sorry that it has been since last Tuesday since I have posted! Out on the road I don't always have access to internet. I know, I know that every place has internet but I am always coming and going so I don't always get a chance to stop. Here is a fun pic at Oklahoma State Univeristy. Here are some of the counselors that work there! Is any of these gals your counselors?

Where's Reno?
Okay, I am sitting in a student center at a certain college interviewing staff for Kanakuk. I interviewed some great gals. When I walked in I saw this trash can. I am not at the University of Oklahoma so I was curious why this was at this school. You could clearly see the OU but I couldn't see what was around it. I knew that it wasn't going to be nice. So, where do you think I am? By the way, this is not a person's trash can. This is a school funded trash can. So what school would have this trash can in their student center? I will give you a hint....think halloween colors.

I'm Third...living it out
Hey guys! I found this story on the internet today and I thought I would share it with you. I don't know these people but its a great example of I'm Third. This young man's dream was to score a touchdown. The players had to give up a lot to let him score, especially the defending team. The game score will be forgotten in 6 months but this boy will remember this moment for a lifetime. Check it out.

Taking the Bieber Fever Home
Justin Beiber's "One Time" was a much loved song at K-1. Maybe a little overplayed for those who stayed at kamp from May to August. We made up a dance, we made up a song using God's word instead....you name it...we Justin Beibered it. This pic is two of my leadership girls (Blair - the osage momma and Lana - the Athletic Director) that I found on facebook. In the caption it said "Beiber? Is that you?" I laughed because these gals are roomates this year and they are jammin in the car to Justin Beiber. Blair (along with sweet Kaleigh) was actually the one who made up the famous dance. If she had time I would make her video the how to dance the K-1 Justin Beiber dance. (Blair if you are reading this....hint.. hint....) You guys email me all the time for instructions. Anyway, I love that Blair and Lana took a little bit of kamp memories home with them....while they were in the car....probably on their way to go get a Diet Coke. What kamp memories have you taken home?
P.S. - Blair and Lana, I used your picture from facebook on my blog. Are you okay with that ? Good...I thought you would be.
For those of you who just want to hear the song again..... click here.
If you want to know how we changed up this song to fit with our Devotionals. Click here. I mean...."Me plus You"...and the You being Jesus....it totally works. "My word is Your world"... "My breath is your breath"...."My fight is Your fight". Its perfect. Thanks Justin.

What I do on Mondays.
Alot of people ask me "What do you do now that kamp is over?" I think I am going to talk about little bits and pieces of that this week. Well, Monday is for blogs. Yes, I am a blogger. This is how I stay intouch with my staff and kampers. Of course you know that I have a kamper blog (because you are here and reading it) I also daily have a blog that I post bible studies. They are more geared for the Kanakuk college aged staff. The website is http://www.getupdigin.wordpress.com/ I get to challenge you to read God's word thru champion's Walk. I get to challenge them through "getting up and digging in" and posting bible studies. Since I have a busy week of meetings and sometimes traveling, I have to write out and plan the entire week of those bible studies. It takes me a little while. I also have to figure out what I am going to blog about on this blog. I spend time looking for crafts, news, creative things ect... Its really a fun part of my week. I should be a spokesperson for this band. I found another one of their videos this morning and thought I would post it. This video makes me realize again how "untrained" my dog is! I have got to get to work on that. These dogs are awesome!
Later today I will get caught up on entering your Champion's Walk entries and get my travel schedule ready for when I travel for kamp. Did I mention that I am coming to Norman, Dallas, Stillwater, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa this semester! If you live in those cities, maybe I will get to see you! Have a great monday! What do you do on Monday? (comment below)
By the way - Did you see that OU beat Texas? YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!
