Make your Own Gak!

Source here

One of my favorite things that we do at camp is have a Gak fight (like a food fight).  Our gak is a little bit more watery because it has to be for 400 people to engage in a food fight with Gak.  This stuff looks more like the stuff that cool to play with!  I found this "how to" on dollarstorecrafts.   She even posted a video:

So, if you are looking for something to do...maybe you could make some Gak!

I Love Fall

I love the summer and miss it when its not here but the next best thing is the fall.  Here is why I love the fall:
  • College Football - Go Sooners
  • Seeing friends I haven't seen in a while.  You know when you get home from kamp and you can't wait to catch up with your friends?  I do that too!  I am at camp all summer so it might be three months before I see a friend.
  • Long Sleeve shirts and shorts.  Its my favorite outfit EVER! You can only do that in the fall.  Its warm enough for shorts but still comfortable for long sleeves!
  • Barbeques.  I know this is more a summer thing but Fall Barbeques are better.  Why?  Bonfires are more likely to be involved.  Chilly evenings with a bonfire....love it.  It makes me miss camp too.
  • The Changing of the Leaves.  Its my favorite part of God's creation.  The color is amazing!
  • Thanksgiving - its my favorite Holiday....hands down.  Yes, more than Christmas (don't worry, I love me some Christmas so this says alot)  I love thanksgiving because its family, its eating, and more importantly you focus on what you are thankful for and not about what gifts you will get.  (Plus...my favorite part of Christmas is putting up my tree and that happens the day after Thanksgiving!)  Yes, I know that we celebrate Jesus' birth at Christmas and I do love Him the most...but did you know that Jesus was really born in the fall?  We just celebrate his birth in the winter.  If you look at the calendar in bible times and all the times and events around Jesus' birth it puts Jesus' birth sometime (in our Calendar) in October.  See...another good reason to love the fall.
Do you love fall too?  Why or why not?  What is your favorite season?

For those of you leaving K-1

I know that some of you will not come back to K-1 next summer.  It makes me sad thinking that you are too old to come back.  But I am also excited about the new adventure you will have at a new Kanakuk Kamp.  I just wanted to tell you about a few ways you can start getting excited about your new camp.

Ashely Robbins (who happens to be my BFF) is the Assistant Director at K-2.  (She is in the pic above)
    Check out her blog:
    www.kanakukashley.com

Are you moving to K-West?  One of their Leadership Gals (who also works full-time for kamp) blogs every day.  Alot of her blog is about traveling with kamp and what she is up to but you will get to know her and be excited to meet her at kamp.  Her blog is:

Although you grow up and move on...I will still be here for you too!  Have a great Monday.

    The K-Life 10K

This Labor Day weekend I ran a 10K race.  A 10K is 6.2 miles and the entry fee benefitted K-Life, an organization I am dearly love.  The great part is that two K-1 girls ran too.  They ran the mile and the 5K.  Emily and Molly I am really proud of you!  All that track K-work paid off right? :)

Notice Emily and Molly have medals.  They both placed for their age groups!  I think they both got first place!  Great job gals!

I am back!  I took a break this summer because we had our k1.kanakuk.com blog that was doing so great and being updated all the time.  Now it is time for me to pick back up with where I left off.  I am changing things up a bit.  I will be posting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for you.  I lots of fun ideas for you and also fun updates about what is going on with me and with kamp!

I want to tell you what I did right after my husband and I left kamp.  Most of you remember Piper my dog.  Here she is chillin' on her favorite bed.

We have a new Vizsla!  He lost his home and family in the Joplin Tornado and he now has a new home.  His name is Finnley:

He can't wait to mee you next summer.

    Miss ya, Reno
